THE ILLEGITIMATE KING

According to the tradition of Obadi-Oki after the demise of the incumbent king only the king’s heir should be enthroned as a new king. King Joba stressed this point before his death, but immediately after he had passed away the king makers took a bribe from a wealthy and influential man in the town, Chief Boluwatife, and made him the new king.

Consequently, lots of troubles and catastrophe befell the town.

The Regrets of Omotolu

Omotolu had been involved in love affairs with her husband’s boss, Comrade Odedu, before she married Bamide. After the marriage the boss grew jealous and later dismissed Bamide from work. Thereafter, Bamide became jobless and poor.

Omotolu abandoned her husband and children. She was materialistic. Omotolu eventually got married to another man, Chief Jejelowo, because of his wealth. 

After some time, Bamide was re-appointed and promoted at his workplace, while Chief Jejelowo gave up the ghost. Immediately after the death of Chief Jejelowo, Omotolu was driven out of the rich man’s house by the chief’s relatives. She became a pariah.
